Spice up your sip with a Hot Honey Old Fashioned twist, blending the warmth of bourbon with the sweet kick of hot honey.
Ingredients:
Makes 1
What you will need:
Whiskey glass
Mixing glass
Bar spoon
Jigger
Garnish stick
Large Ice Cube
Cocktail:
2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey
1/2 oz hot honey syrup (recipe below)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
I sometimes like to add a 1/2 oz of water to dilute it a bit
Garnishes:
Orange peel and maraschino cherry, for garnish
Hot Honey Simple Syrup:
To make hot honey syrup, combine equal parts hot honey (spicy honey) and hot water. For example, you can mix 1/2 cup hot honey with 1/2 cup hot water. Stir until the honey is fully dissolved. Let it cool before using it in your cocktail.
Cocktail Directions:
In a mixing glass add the bourbon or rye whiskey, hot honey syrup, and two dashes of Angostura bitters.
Fill the mixing glass with a large ice cube and stir the ingredients together for about 15 seconds to chill and dilute the drink slightly. Stirring helps to meld the flavors without excessive dilution.
Strain the cocktail into the glass over a fresh ice cube.
Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by holding the peel over the glass, giving it a good twist to release the oils, and then rubbing it around the rim of the glass before twisting back and dropping it in.
Cheers, sip and enjoy 😊
