Roasting in the Snow

Updated: Dec 24, 2022

Icy winter cocktail with holiday flavors and roasted marshmallows :)

I love, love love this cocktail! If you are in a sweet cocktail mood.. this is delicious! This drink is very festive and gives off warm homey vibes by the fire. I personally was trying to make a completely different drink with tequila (funnily enough) and ended up making this delightful bourbon creation that was way better anyways. This cocktail has flavors of coconut, cinnamon, bourbon, nutmeg and marshmallow. I loved making the mini sugar roasted marshmallows as a garnish too. Then eating them with the cocktail really tied in all the flavors and made it a nice little snack with the drink ;)

Roasting in the Snow Recipe:

Ingredients:

Makes 1

What you will need:

Lemon/Lime Juicer (I use this one: https://amzn.to/3EbsgdK )

Cocktail Shaker - Similar one here: https://amzn.to/3rrtmKT

Jigger or shot glass

Pot to make cinnamon simple syrup

Cocktail Glass

Cocktail strainer

Garnish picks

Torch (or any source of fire to roast marshmallows)

Cocktail:

  • 1.5 ounce Bourbon

  • 1 ounce cinnamon simple syrup

  • 2 ounces full fat coconut milk

  • 1 egg white (optional)

Garnishes:

  • mini-marshmallows

  • garnish pick

  • pure cane sugar

Directions:

  1. In a small pot add in 1 cup pure cane sugar or white sugar, 1 cup water, and with 2-3 cinnamon sticks. bring to boil and then simmer for 10 minutes. Take off heat and cool till room temp. (can add this in the shaker if its still slightly warm..that's fine as the ice will cool it)

  2. Add in a shaker: (no ice, this will be a dry shake with the egg whites first) 1.5 ounces Bourbon, 1 ounce cinnamon simple syrup, 2 ounces full fat coconut milk, 1 egg white (optional).

  3. Shake it all up - set aside for garnish making

  4. Take your mini-marshmallows add them onto your cocktail pick

  5. Dip them in water or the cinnamon simple syrup on a plate and then dip them in pure cane sugar on a plate or flat surface till they are covered in sugar

  6. Roast the marshmallows slightly until golden or however you prefer them. I used a torch and roasted just the top side of them. Be light here since they are mini they roast fast! Then, set aside your garnish

  7. Add ice to your shaker

  8. Shake it all up again

  9. With a cocktail strainer pour into your glass

  10. Add your mini-marshmallow garnish

  11. Sip and Enjoy :)
